Asylum Application Totals for Select EU Destinations

The number of asylum seekers entering Europe surged in the wake of the ongoing Syrian civil war and other conflicts around the world.

This infographic shows yearly asylum application rates for Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom from 2008 to 2015. Over this period, three countries saw asylum rates increase by more than 100 percent: Hungary (5,442%), Germany (976%), and Sweden (195%).
