WASHINGTON, DC — The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) today announced the launch of its redesigned website, built to make its research, analysis, data and other offerings more accessible, interactive and useful for a wide array of specialist and public audiences in the United States and globally.
The new site, available at www.migrationpolicy.org, is designed to be intuitive and easy to navigate for audiences regardless of their interests or the device they use to access it.
"We wanted a site that meets people where they are, whether they're a policymaker or researcher looking for analysis, a reporter or non-profit official looking for data, or a member of the public encountering our work for the first time," said MPI President Andrew Selee. "This redesign reflects our commitment to making essential, evidence-informed research, analysis and data as accessible as possible."
Key upgrades include:
- Increased interactivity and visibility of data tools. These can be found not only in MPI’s much-visited Migration Data Hub but also embedded within publications, Migration Information Source articles, commentaries and beyond, giving users direct, hands-on access to key statistics.
- Expanded access to audio and video content. Video shorts, podcasts and other multimedia is more accessible across the site and, for the first time, accompanied by transcripts to maximize their accessibility and usability.
- Full accessibility and responsiveness. The site is optimized to be used seamlessly across desktop, mobile and tablet. And it was built with accessibility as a core priority, incorporating color choices and screen-reader compatibility to support users with visual and auditory differences.
- Easy access to short-form work. Data tools, podcasts, explainers, and data-rich articles spotlighting individual immigrant populations are all easily accessible from MPI’s The Basics.
The site is also AI-forward, structured so that its data and findings can be more easily surfaced by AI-driven search and research tools — an acknowledgment of how audiences increasingly discover and consume information.
"This is a state-of-the-art platform that is both contemporary and professional," said Director of Communications Michelle Mittelstadt, whose team developed the site, working with creative agency Soapbox. "It's designed for how people actually find and use information today."
