Maybritt Jill Alpes

Maybritt Jill Alpes is a migration and asylum expert with experience in research, assessments, and advocacy in Europe and Africa. She is the author of Abroad at Any Cost: Brokering High-Risk Migration and Illegality in West Africa (Routledge) and has published more than 30 academic publications on a range of migration topics, including detention and readmission. Dr. Alpes has worked as staff and consultant for Amnesty International, Oxfam, and the Danish Refugee Council. She holds a BA in history and politics from the University of Sheffield, a master’s degree in development studies from Sciences Po Paris, and a Ph.D. in legal anthropology from the University of Amsterdam.
