Kerilyn Schewel
Kerilyn Schewel is Co-Director of the Duke University Program on Climate-Related Migration, a Lecturing Fellow at the Duke Center for International Development, and a Senior Researcher at the International Migration Institute. Her research examines the root causes of human migration and immobility, with an emphasis on the themes of gender, youth, rural development, and climate change. Her book, Moved by Modernity: How Development Shapes Migration in Rural Ethiopia, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press. She holds a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, a master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
