Amanda Alencar is Associate Professor in Erasmus University Rotterdam’s Department of Media and Communication and former Chair of the International Communication Association’s Intercultural Communication Division. Her research interests lie in the area of media and migration, with a focus on how technologies shape refugees’ experiences of belonging in Europe and Latin America. She holds a PhD in audiovisual communication and journalism from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
