A Detailed Look at the Unauthorized Immigrant Population Nationally and by State
A discussion on detailed new MPI national and state estimates of the unauthorized immigrant population and key sociodemographic characteristics, as well as upcoming policy and political developments at executive and legislative levels.
With the Obama administration apparently poised to announce executive actions to provide relief from deportation and work authorization to some of the estimated 11.4 million unauthorized immigrants living in the United States, it is a timely moment to examine the size and characteristics of this population nationally and by state. During this webinar, Migration Policy Institute (MPI) analysts will present the Institute’s latest estimates of the unauthorized population at national and state levels, as well as key sociodemographic characteristics (including countries of origin, top languages spoken, and levels of education). During the Q&A portion of the webinar, the experts also will take questions on MPI’s recent estimates of the size of subgroups that could benefit under some of the publicly discussed scenarios for executive action.
