Age and Sex of International Migrants: Qatar and the United States (2010)
Age and Sex of International Migrants: Qatar and the United States (2010)
According to UN estimates, the United States is the top destination for migrants worldwide. More than 42 million international migrants lived in the United States in 2010 accounting for about 13 percent of the US total population. Qatar, on the other hand, claims the top spot in terms of the share international migrants represent in the country's total population: Nearly 87 percent of the 1.5 million residents (or 1.3 million) in this Gulf nation were international migrants in 2010. The two top global destinations, the United States and Qatar, are vastly different not only in migration scale but also in terms of the main goals of their migration policies.
