Yuliya Kosyakova is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Migration and International Labor Studies Department at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), where she focuses on issues of migration and integration. She is also a lecturer at the University of Mannheim. Her interests also include the labor market and employment, social stratification, gender and educational inequality, post-socialist societies (particularly Russia), international comparative research, and institutional change.
Before joining the IAB, Dr. Kosyakova was a member of the Comparative Life Course and Inequality Research Centre (CLIC) at the Department of Social and Political Science at the European University Institute. She was also part of the research team on the European Research Council-funded international comparative project Education as a Lifelong Process: Comparing Educational Trajectories in Modern Societies (eduLIFE), as part of which she analyzed educational transitions, such as that from early preschool education and care to primary and secondary school, access to higher education, the school-to-work transition, and adult education in Russia. She holds a PhD in sociology from the European University Institute in Fiesole.
