Serena Yi-Ying Lin

Serena Yi-Ying Lin is a former Data/Statistical Analyst at MPI. She provided quantitative research and project management support across MPI’s programs and for MPI’s National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy. She is a co-author on studies of the impact of the recession on global migration patterns, the integration of immigrants in the U.S. Labor force, and the U.S. immigration detention system.

Over three-quarters of Taiwanese immigrants own their home, and almost as many hold a bachelor's degree or higher. MPI's Serena Yi-Ying Lin examines the population's size, geographic distribution, and socioeconomic characteristics.

Many countries relied on low-skilled immigrant workers during good times. But Japan, Spain, and the Czech Republic have recently introduced "pay-to-go" programs to reduce the number of unemployed immigrants. MPI's Kristen McCabe, Serena Yi-Ying Lin, and Hiroyuki Tanaka, and Piotr Plewa of the European University Institute examine these programs and the larger policy questions they raise.
