WASHINGTON – As the Republican presidential candidates
prepare for a debate targeting Hispanic voters, we anticipate
that immigration policy will return as a critical issue for
the candidates. Hosted by Univision Communications Inc.,
a leading Spanish-language media company, and the University
of Miami, the 90-minute debate will occur this Sunday, December
9, 2007 at 7:00PM EST. The Univision debate aims to address
the most important issues for Hispanic voters and occurs less
than two weeks after a CNN/YouTube Republican debate where
immigration quickly emerged as a divisive issue among the candidates.
Migration Policy Institute (MPI) experts can provide nonpartisan
analysis of the debate in several areas of immigration and
immigrant integration policy. MPI analysts available
