Elsa Steichen

Elsa Steichen is a Research Engineer at the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She received a PhD in quantitative sociology at EHESS/Institut national d’études démographiques in 2013 focusing on the labor market integration of North African immigrants' descendants in France. Her research interests include migration, discrimination, school-to-work transition, and intersectionality.

This report analyzes how recent immigrants to France fare in the country's labor market over time. The research shows that new arrivals initially face a hostile labor market and ultimately improve their employment outcomes—but their process of labor market insertion and advancement is a slow one.
