Angela Valdovinos D’Angelo

Angela Valdovinos D’Angelo is a Harold A. Richman Postdoctoral Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago. Dr. Valdovinos D’Angelo has expertise in immigrant and Latino fathering and families, the context of development for immigrant and minority children, as well as experience in policy-relevant research. She is currently pursuing training in applied policy research at Chapin Hall.

This report draws on a six-year longitudinal study of Palm Beach County, FL, examining parenting, child care enrollment, and other factors that encourage early school success. The authors find kindergarten-age children of Black immigrants have significantly higher odds of being ready for school than children of Latina immigrant or Black U.S.-born mothers.
